The Red Nanashi shrimp belongs to the Pinto family, also known as Pinto Bee shrimp or Pinto Caridina. It is a highly sought-after and visually striking species of shrimp in the aquarium hobby. This is a selectively bred variant of the Caridina shrimp, known for its unique and intricate patterns.

Physical appearance: Pinto shrimp exhibit a range of color variations and patterns, making each individual unique. They typically have a black or dark base color with white or nearly white markings. Patterns can range from solid white or transparent spots to complex stripes, spots, or marbling across the body. The combination and intensity of patterns can vary among individual specimens, creating a diverse and fascinating array of appearances.

These shrimp prefer clean water with a temperature of 22–26 °C and a pH around 6.0–7.0. Providing suitable hiding places, sufficient biofilm, and a balanced diet will contribute to their overall well-being and coloration.
