It is advisable to equip the tank with plants and roots, or other decorations that provide shrimp with shelter. Suitable decorations can include half coconut shells, dried leaves, bamboo, etc.
Females ready to mate have what is called a saddle, which is a yellowish spot behind the head. After fertilization by the male, the saddle in the form of eggs moves to the abdominal area. After 25-29 days, about 20-40 fully developed young are released. During this time, it is good to feed powdered food or so-called pudding. Young shrimp can then more easily access food, and their growth is more uniform.
Shrimp of the same genus (or species) should be kept separately to prevent crossbreeding. The offspring of such crossbred shrimp usually revert in color to the original form.
