The international exhibition organized by the Czech fishkeeping society initially surprised me with its simplicity, but that did not change the fact that I fell in love with the colorful fish.

Who wouldn't be tempted by the colorful and somewhat mysterious world of killifish. I couldn't resist, and even though the aquarium exhibition in Rychnov nad Kněžnou was approaching, I set off to the Botanical Garden in Prague. Here, the International Killifish Exhibition was taking place.

The Botanical Garden reminds me of my student days, and I always enjoy returning there. Upon entering, I could observe that not much had changed since then. I continued to the exhibition room, where I was somewhat taken aback by the starkness of the arrangement and the absence of information boards. There was also nowhere to sit, so discussions with acquaintances mainly took place while standing. However, after a while, I got used to the exhibition layout and threw myself into observing the creatures in the small exhibition aquariums.

As soon as I looked more closely at those beautiful colors, I was lost. It took me nearly another 4 hours before I was able to leave the exhibition. It is worth noting that the Botanical Garden was closing at the same time, and the Czech killifish society was already preparing to evaluate the exhibited specimens.

In the meantime, I managed to gather some basic guidelines for evaluation from Roman Štefanko, with whom I also recently did an interview, information that, for example, fish that may look very similar at first glance can have completely different requirements for keeping and breeding.

I think that all the species that a regular aquarist could think of were present at the exhibition. Unfortunately, the environment was not ideal for photography due to the glass room, so you may notice reflections in the attached photos.

The results of the exhibition can be viewed here.
