Personal contact with experienced aquarists is an invaluable source of inspiration and knowledge. However, in the Czech Republic, such opportunities are scarce, which is why I started looking elsewhere — and discovered the world of online lectures, discussions, and foreign communities that open up new horizons. If you are proficient in German and crave a deeper insight into aquaristics, you might share the same enthusiasm that led me to international forums.
The opportunity to meet experienced aquarists is only a few in the Czech Republic throughout the year. I admit that I often miss being around experienced aquarists and admiring with them how amazing aquaristics is and how interesting the environment is from which the creatures we keep come.
Such lectures or discussions are actually capable of completely absorbing me and help me to develop and at the same time better understand the connections.
In short, the contribution is invaluable and cannot be easily replaced. Even though I have subscribed to several aquaristic magazines, a number of books in the library, both printed and on the e-reader, it still isn't the same.
I couldn't help it and some time ago I searched the internet. Besides an endless array of various podcasts and videos, I proudly joined a German forum for cichlid breeders.
Aquaristic events in neighboring countries seem to be much more intense, and they also organize online lectures here. I am very happy to participate in those. Each time they reveal further areas worth exploring, and the speakers are always top-notch in the field. It has become a rule that I mark all online lectures in my calendar and try not to miss any.
